Major Political Shift in Bihar: Samrat Choudhary Set to Become Next Chief Minister After Nitish Kumar’s Resignation

After Nitish Kumar’s resignation, BJP legislature party elected Samrat Choudhary as leader, paving the way for a new NDA government formation in Bihar.
Patna / Alam Ki Khabar:A major political development has taken place in Bihar following the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In a significant move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party has elected Samrat Choudhary as its leader, which has effectively cleared the way for him to become the next Chief Minister of the state. This decision has triggered a new wave of political discussions across Bihar, with preparations now underway for the formation of a new government under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
According to political sources, Nitish Kumar formally submitted his resignation at the Raj Bhavan after meeting the Governor. His resignation marks the end of a significant phase in Bihar politics, where he had been at the center of governance for several years. Soon after this development, the BJP legislature party convened an important meeting in Patna where Samrat Choudhary was unanimously chosen as the leader of the party in the assembly.
With this decision, the path for Samrat Choudhary to assume the Chief Minister’s office appears largely smooth. However, the final formal approval is expected during the NDA legislative meeting, where all alliance partners will officially endorse his name as the next Chief Minister of Bihar. Following this endorsement, the Governor will invite him to form the government.
Government Formation Process
After being invited by the Governor, Samrat Choudhary will stake claim to form the new government. NDA legislators are expected to submit their support formally, confirming the majority in the state assembly. Once the claim is accepted, preparations will begin for the oath-taking ceremony at Raj Bhavan, where the new Chief Minister and cabinet ministers will be sworn in.
Political observers believe that this transition marks a crucial turning point in Bihar politics, with a new leadership structure expected to guide the state’s governance and policy direction in the coming years.
Anant Singh’s Reaction
Adding a notable political angle to the development, Mokama MLA Anant Singh from the Janata Dal (United) has also responded positively to the decision. Speaking at the Bihar Legislative Assembly premises, he said that it is a “good decision” that Samrat Choudhary is set to become the Chief Minister.
He further stated that the public is happy with this decision and expressed confidence that Samrat Choudhary will work in a similar manner as Nitish Kumar. According to him, much of Bihar’s development foundation has been laid under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, and the new leadership is expected to continue the same developmental approach.
Anant Singh also remarked that if Nitish Kumar provides guidance, Samrat Choudhary will certainly follow it for the benefit of the state. His statement has added a fresh dimension to the ongoing political transition in Bihar.
Next Steps in Bihar Politics
Following the BJP legislature party decision, the NDA legislative meeting is expected to formally approve Samrat Choudhary’s name as Chief Minister. After this, the Governor will invite him to form the government officially. Once the invitation is extended, Samrat Choudhary will stake claim to form the new NDA government in Bihar.
The oath-taking ceremony is likely to be held at Raj Bhavan, where the new Chief Minister along with his cabinet ministers will take oath of office and secrecy. Political experts believe this marks the beginning of a new chapter in Bihar’s governance.
